Steelbridge Oy has been awarded innovation funding by Business Finland, Finland's government organisation for innovation funding and trade promotion. The grant validates Steelbridge's mission to build the compliance infrastructure layer for the EU Data Act — and accelerates the company's path to market.
The EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854) entered into force on 11 January 2024 and has applied in full since 12 September 2025. It places concrete obligations on manufacturers of connected products — from user data access rights to third-party data sharing and emergency data availability. For many IoT and connected-device companies, meeting these obligations requires significant engineering investment with no direct revenue upside.
Steelbridge is building the compliance infrastructure layer that handles these obligations as a managed service — covering consent management, access APIs, data contracts, audit logging, billing, and trade-secret protection. The Business Finland funding will accelerate development of the core platform and support Steelbridge's expansion across European markets.
"The support from Business Finland is a strong signal that Finland recognises the strategic importance of compliant data infrastructure. This funding allows us to accelerate our roadmap and serve more connected-product companies across Europe."Steelbridge team
What the funding supports
The innovation funding supports three key areas of the Steelbridge platform: the consent and access management layer, the data contract engine, and the audit and compliance reporting module. Together, these capabilities give IoT manufacturers a complete, regulation-ready foundation without requiring internal compliance engineering teams.
The funding also supports Steelbridge's expansion into the German and wider EU market — where the intersection of industrial IoT, automotive, and energy sectors means the Data Act affects a large and technically sophisticated customer base.
