As the digital landscape rapidly evolves, so does the Council of the European Union's commitment to data security, transparency, and accessibility. But what does this mean for businesses in the EU?
The EU's data strategy aims to position Europe as a leader in the data economy by creating a safe, transparent environment where data is not only protected but also accessible in ethical ways. Key targets include growing the value of the EU data economy from €301 billion in 2018 to €829 billion by 2025, and increasing the number of data professionals from 5.7 million to 10.9 million over the same period.
The strategy also commits €4–6 billion in investment toward common European data spaces and a federated cloud infrastructure — creating the conditions for the Data Act and related regulations to take effect.
At Steelbridge Oy, we're passionate about helping businesses navigate these new landscapes. Over the coming months, we'll be sharing insights on data regulations, the path to compliance, and what companies need to know about upcoming rules like the Data Act.
Stay tuned as we explore what these changes mean for your industry, and how Steelbridge can support you on this journey.
